WORKSHOP

OVERVIEW

    June
    2023

    THURSDAY | 14.00 - 16.00

    WS 1 - MARKETING STRATEGIES | MONDEGO
    > You cannot run a lifestyle center without guests and patients. Who is your audience and how can you reach them? Learn how divinely inspired marketing strategies still work the best in today’s world. How can you utilize digital media to grow your audience? Learn how low cost marketing, rightly done, can fill almost every program you run.
    > Neil Nedley

WS 3 - HOW TO START… SOME ESSENTIAL PRINCIPLES | MONDEGO
    > Pioneering is for those who have a calling for going on uncharted territories and could single-mindedly invest everything they have to the cause. As pioneers advance on unbeaten roads, there are pitfalls and many fancy theories invented by bystanders about how one should go about pioneering. In this workshops there will be no recipes on exactly how to start but rather biblical business and leadership principles which would be applied differently according to world regions, culture, circumstances and Inspiration.
    > Nick Dan

WS 5 - LOCATION AND BUILDING PLANS | ALMEDINA
    > Location, location, location... A friend of mine once told me that many Adventists who wish to open a lifestyle center and looking for a place to do so, often travel the longest paved road until it ends, then continue on a gravel road until it ends and there, at the end of all this, they choose the place to build the center and belive that God led them along the way. He was playing a bit with words but in a way, many people will identify themselves with this ironic but with a pinch of truth in it. While country living is a good thing and may be an attraction to many, God has given us valuable advice on this matter. Prayer is important. Business and common sense can also help us find the right place. And then comes the type of building we wish to work in. Many factors will affect architectural plans too. Come and learn about these two important issues at this important workshop.
    > Viriato Ferreira

WS 7 - DEVELOPING AND SUSTAINING EUROPEAN LIFESTYLE CENTERS: LESSONS OF 30 YEARS EXPERIENCE | CONVENTUAL
    > The day that the Berlin Wall fell in 1989, became the stimulus for many lay-operated lifestyle centers and medical missionary schools in both eastern and western Europe. Follow the journey from building a team, finding properties, raising funds, building lifestyle centers and schools while maintaining a healthy relationship with the local church leadership.
    > Charles Cleveland

WS 9 - GOVERNANCE AND ADMINISTRATION MODELS AND PRACTICES | INÊS DE CASTRO
    > The original concept of Rural Health Retreats was that they would be institutions. As such, governance and administration become important to assure mission focus and sound business practices without suppression of creativity and entrepreneurial flexibility by micromanagement or “progress paralysis.”
In this workshop, we will explore the various ways of achieving the above while working in harmony with the Church and with the Adventist Health Ecosystem (beehive).
    > Zeno Charles Marcel

WS 11 - HEALTH COACHING IN RESIDENTIAL LIFESTYLE CENTERS | CENTRO
    > This seminar will describe lifestyle coaching from a biblical and theoretical perspective, exploring the role it has in the behavioral change process. A coaching model will be introduced and resources offered for implementing a coaching approach in health and healing ministries at lifestyle centers and beyond.
    > Katia Reinert

WS 13 - HOW TO ORGANIZE A DAILY SCHEDULE FOR DIFFERENT PROGRAMS | TERCEIRA
A schedule of activities is the response to the patient's needs.
The aim of these activities is to identify causes, eliminate symptoms and establish a sustainable model that will allow the patient to eradicate harmful habits and acquire new ones in the medium and long term.
Its dynamics must be framed within the circadian rhythm so that the energy-activity relationship is adequate and manages to improve and maintain the balance between body, mind and spirit.

WS 2 - EMOTIONAL HEALTH IN LIFESTYLE PROGRAMS | MONDEGO
    > Emotional Health challenges are at an all-time high throughout the world. How can you start and sustain an emotional health lifestyle program? Learn the physical elements that produce the best results in a short period of time. Learn how to deal with those who have highly irrational cognitive and emotional issues in a way that leads the client forward without offending them. Also understand the critical role of spirituality in mental health and how to utilize spirituality to help those who want nothing to do with religion or even God.
    > Neil Nedley

WS 4 - HOTEL-BASED LIFESTYLE PROGRAMS: A GOOD WAY TO START | MONDEGO
    > Are you eager to launch your own Lifestyle Program but haven't found the right building yet? Don't worry! You can get started right away by renting a facility like a hotel, without having to deal with the hassles of construction and building management.
By attending this workshop, you'll gain invaluable insights into selecting the best location, securing the right facility, advertising and registering clients, organizing the daily program, and offering various services. You'll also learn how to build the perfect team, with clearly defined job descriptions, and discover the secrets of running successful programs.
    > Erica Nedley | Daniel Seniuc

WS 6 - COSTS AND FINANCIAL SUSTAINABILITY | ALMEDINA
    > How much does it cost to build and manage an Adventist lifestyle center? It depends on many factors. Size, model of center, country, location, building costs, labour laws, are only a few of the many issues to be considered. But there are other less tangible factors that will influence not only the building costs but also the sustainability of such centers. Come and learn more at this exciting and very useful workshop.
    > Nick Dan | Viriato Ferreira

WS 8 - COLLABORATIVE STRATEGIES FOR DEVELOPING CHURCH AND LAY-OPERATED LIFESTYLE CENTERS | CONVENTUAL
    > Historically, the Adventist church has had both church and lay-owned and operated Lifestyle Centers. With the churches current interest in promoting the opening of new centers, join Dr. Peter Landless, Director of the General Conference Health Ministries Department and Charles Cleveland, founder and developer of numerous lifestyle centers worldwide, as they share their experiences of what each entity can offer to make their relationship complementary.
    > Peter Landless | Charles Cleveland

WS 10 - ACCEPTABLE HEALTH PRACTICES IN RESIDENTIAL ADVENTIST LIFESTYLE CENTERS | INÊS DE CASTRO
All that glitters is not gold! Not every available diagnostic test or therapeutic modality that can be used, should be used in our programs and centers.
In this workshop, we will employ critical thinking to explore our approach to evaluation for the appropriateness of any commonly used or emerging diagnostic test or therapeutic modality for use in Adventist wellness programs and healthcare facilities.
    > Zeno Charles Marcel

WS 12 - DEALING WITH HIDDEN ADDICTIONS IN LIFESTYLE CENTERS - GUESTS | CENTRO
    > This seminar will describe the neurobiology of addictions along with its root causes and discuss effective Christ-centered interventions for addiction prevention and recovery.
    > Katia Reinert

WS 14 - SHARING SPIRITUAL VALUES WITH PATIENTS AND GUESTS | TERCEIRA
    > The way we see the human being is determinant in the interpretation we make of the symptoms presented, the causes and the treatment indicated.
Spirituality is not just another tool or forgotten dimension in the treatment of illnesses, but rather it is what defines the very essence of the being. In the recovery process: identity and relationship are two vital elements both in the cause of illness and in the recovery from it.
